A Couple More Upholstery Projects

Postby BayouBengal » Wed Oct 11, 2017 1:26 pm

I done a couple more upholstery projects over the last couple of weeks. The first was to change my flat side panels upfront to a contoured panel that matched the thickness of the back seat rest and then tapered down. The way they were with the sudden change of thickness just didn't look very good.
They didn't come out as well as I hoped and I may do them again at some point, but having the contour looks much better than they used to. The first picture shows the issue, the next two pictures show the new look.

I also made these boat bumper/fender covers. It's a project that is shown in this sailrite video http://www.sailrite.com/How-to-Make-a-Boat-Fender-Cover-Center-Rope-Style-Video

Much cooler design now.

Upholstery is my winter project, but much simpler that this.

I've never cared for sewing in the past, but I am excited to get to this stage of the build. For two reasons. First, it signals that I am finally getting close to being done. And secondly, after watching most of the SailRite videos, I feel that I can do this and look forward to creating my own versions of upholstery. I will have plenty of opportunities to do so on my boat.

And I cannot leave without saying, great job on the re-work and the upholstery overall. Looks real killer!
