Gentry upholstery

Postby slug » Sun Mar 26, 2017 6:28 am

Verna and I decided to have a go at doing the upholstery on the Gentry. We have a Mitsubishi walking foot machine that is more than capable for the job. That's the big criteria. The material we chose was too thick to sew and fold "French pleats" or what is in the hot rod jargon "rolled and pleated", so I found that doing individual strips works fine....just more work and cutting. For cutting I invested in a rotary cutter.....the wisest investment made.
Here are some pics of the front (forward) seat under construction. We started with the least visible and smallest one first for trial and lots of error.

That's really cool, Doug! What don't you do? I look forward to seeing the finished product--I think that type of upholstery is tuck and roll. Keep us posted...
