If you're painting Dynel (It comes out milky) could be used every where. I don't see that you need a glass layer with it. At first, I had problems scraping the stem on the trailer and had to keep patching. I put Dynel on it and never have had the problem again.

There is no advantage to using both products. The Dynel will do just fine. The surface is rougher and will need more resin or a type of fairing compound mixed with resin to make the surface smoothe. But this can be done as the resin begins to cure without sanding.

The dynel I used is a pretty tight weave. Dynel does swell when wet out unless you vacuum bag. The filler were easier than filling glass for me.

The cloth is a PITA to cut though.

Thanks,i was only thinking of it for the bottom but its not that pricey so why not the whole hull. i was under the impression it was only used on the bottom of the hull. what about the seams? if your useing fiberglass you tape the seams would you do that with Dynel?

Inside if you're doing seams I'd use glass. Outside laps of Dynel will be fine. I have more scratches above the waterline than below. Many scratches I have no idea when they happen.

I mean the seams outside where the sides meet the bottom.if you used fiberglass you would tape the seams first then cover the bottom then sides.with Dynel can or should i cut or make my own tape from the Dynel for those seams :?: .its going to be a tight fit anyway. I HOPE :!: Sorry long winded ! DO i install dynel just like i would fiberglass ?? seams first >then bottom >>sides Thanks

The Tahoe plans don't call for a tape layer. I lap the "glass". So, I have two layers on the seam anyway.

I would trowel a thin layer of thickened resin along the seam edge before I overlap the fabric. Then I would work the seam overlap with the trowel forcing the thickened epoxy to fill any voids at the overlap and the weave. This will also compress some of the top fabric into the lower layer too reducing a lot of the raised height.

If your not glassing then tape seems. If you glass thenlap layers.
