I am building a 16' flat bottom jon boat. I have completed the hull. I have already put about 4 coats of epoxy on the entire outside of hull (wasn't planning on glassing at first). But now I have decided to cover the entire hull with dynel.

My question is this:
Can the dynel be applied directly over the existing epoxy (that has fully cured and been sanded with 60 grit). I have read that it needs to be applied to bare wood or it will not bond. Is this true or will I be ok to go ahead with plans to cover with the dynel? Thanks for your help.

Also, it's been in the upper 90s to 100s and humid here in SC. Any precautions with doing this with with weather like it is.

Sparklecity,

I seems that I one of the few to use Dynel. Since you sanded with 60 grit, you should have plenty of tooth for the epoxy to bond to.

Keep you resin & hardener in an air conditioned area near 70 degrees. Use a slow hardener. If you still have problems. Freeze about 1/2" of water in a cheap pie pan. Then nest a pan on top of it to put your resin mixing while you use it.

Keep yourself cool. Drink plenty of liquids...
