Hi,
I m new here. I have a semi flat bottom fiberglass 32 ft. boat . Its a naval boat with very thick fiberglass walls and was fitted with the mud enabled suction jet system which is not in a good condition. How ever I wish to rehablitate it with adding a 10 feet length , making it a 42 feet boat. the structure is quite good for this addition. I want to konw if it is workable to add the length? More over since the botton curve is very little so will it be feasible and stable in the deep waters? I shall be obliged if some one has the reply.

Most of the Glen-L designs here allow for a 10% increase or decrease at the aft end.
You're talking about a 30% increase. That sounds pretty significant to me.
Probably no way to know how it would ride/handle without doing some computer modeling/simulations.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a boat designer or naval architect. So take what I say with a grain of salt. But if it were me, I wouldn't do it without consulting with a professional.

polyester does not stick to old/cured polyester very well at all. Simply cutting, and lengthening is going to result in a very weak joint at the points where the length was added.

Well thx a lot for the help, but i intend to put a solid wood keel beneath the bottom througout and workout the fiberglass with sufficient overlapping from utside and additional support of strips from inside. Will that be feasible? Thx

Asrar,

We would never advocate adding length to a boat at one end of the other. It's always added throughout the length of the design. Simply sticking an additional 10' on a boat, would not be recommended.

Polyester continues to get more brittle with age which causes poor adhesion when trying to add new polyester or epoxy to it.

You will also need to look out for polyestermites.
(sorry just kidding)
