Fiberglass on plastic?

Post by WarrenW »

I know this is off subject of boats but I have a fiberglass question. My son has one of those battery powered quads and the plastic wheels are cracked. Could I use some fiberglass and poxyshield on them? Or does fiberglass and plastic not go well together? They want $85 for new wheels for that thing!

I fixed my buddies quad fenders with that Interlux epoxy filler stuff. It worked. Any other time I've tried to fix plastic I've always tried it first. Sometimes you get lucky, others you don't. If the wheels are HDPE the only way to fix them would be to weld them with a soldering iron maybe. Sorry can't be of more help.

I just read a small technical article from an e-bay supplier I frequent on heat treating plastics to improve adhesion. It might be worth a read.

It's in MS Word format. If you don't have that I can send it to you via e-mail.
