Kelly

Great catch! What are the limits in FL? In AL, 3 fish 18" to 26" w/1 allowed oversize. That one is definitely oversize!

Kelly

Last summer our condo neighbor was letting his grandson fish in the marina. He had a little kiddy rod and reel. Mike was baiting it with pieces of shrimp to let the kid catch pin fish. Mike took the reel and after a long battle landed a black drum that pulled up to his waist. We didn't weigh it. I guess 30 pounds - 33 inches. After pictures, we pulled it around in the water for about 20 minutes to revive it for release.

Bill....We looked for the black drum...but with the warm weather. ..they had not moved up to haul over canal. ..a couple of my friends told me...it needs to have a cold snap...to get them to school up ...which happened when we got back to South Carolina. ...had to come home I need to install the metal roof on the tiny house...!
I thought I would show the picture of the hook in my ear...

When I was a Kid, my father took me fishing and I promptly hooked him while casting. He wisely refused to take me out again till I learned to cast over head instead of side arm.
Obviously not the first time your wife "hooked' you! :?

My dad did that to himself with some treble hooks. That's after decades of casting experience!

That the biggest red I ever saw., nice job.
I would have been tempted to trim it down a bit to the 26" slot limit, a trim off the tail, trim off the nose, presto!! its in the slot !!!!
when it comes to the foul hooks (lets not go there!!)
Oak is over rated, everything about it takes extra time; then it warps, splits or checks !!!

Bill ......when I was younger...that would have been exactly what would of happened. ..
But I am in the process of getting my Captains license. ..and the company I am going through. ..has a policy that I can't have any tickets for a year...
This is more of a bucket list thing.....I just have always wanted the be a capt...!

Thanks everyone. ..I remember when I was a young man ...we would catch a few of the bull reds everytime we went fishing....glad to see you still can...
