1st time to the gathering

Postby TOM K » Tue Aug 02, 2016 4:32 am

Its my 1st time to the gathering and I was wanting to know what to bring. I don't know how this all works.
I got Me, my Boat, my Girl, and Alcohol :D . Do you guys get together for any functions (for lack of a better word),
that I should be bring some more stuff? Looking forward to coming this year, had to cancel my reservations last
year due to Nephew's wedding.

If you have a pop up canopy you might want to bring it, it can get hot in the sun on the dock. We anchor them to the dock with washers and screws incase the wind picks up. Bring chairs and a folding table if you have them.
Bring bumpers for your boat and extra you may want to attach to the dock, some parts of the dock are in better shape than others.
If you play an instrument bring it, several others do too and its great to listen to them play.
The kitchens in the cabins are kinda sparsely appointed so you may want to bring large pots or utensils if youll need them for preparing your pot luck dish.

Others will add more I am sure.

So I should bring stuff to make big meal for a group of people?

Tom

Look at Food in Gathering 2016 to see what is already committed. You'll get the idea. We try to balance this out. We don't want to have everybody bring enough for everybody at every meal.

I'm doing about 12 each of brats and Italians with buns. Something like a dozen, or so, hotdogs would be great for fill in. I like Hebrew National.

Some people bring pot luck, some bring donations to offset food cost$
It's all good.
Oak is over rated, everything about it takes extra time; then it warps, splits or checks !!!

If you are going to put food on the table we want to know. As I said, we try to balance this out.

My 30lb Boykin Spaniel and I are pretty tight. Should I leave her at home or would she be acceptable? It's my 1st time too.

I don't know what the rules are regarding pets in the floating cabins. I would check with Hales Bar. If pets are OK and if the dog is well behaved around people, she should be fine. If she likes to jump up and get annoying, that would be a problem. It's a bit of a walk to any doggy relief area from the dock, so be prepared to be considerate where she goes.
