Back to harsh reality now.......but wanted to drop a line to say what a great time we had in the USA. It was fantastic to meet you all at the gathering and many thanks for the whole birthday thing, which I was quite ready to ignore this year.
After the gathering, we spent a wet but scenic couple of days around Gatlinburg and then a terrific night with Bill & Lauren in Birmingham (thank you both again) before heading across to the east coast. Started at Charleston and finished at Key West. Among many other adventures, sights and SO MUCH FOOD, we took in an NFL game with our friends at Jacksonville. Worst football ever, no touchdowns, no long passes, really low scoring - but amazing spectacle and Peter got to buy a "Jaguar" cap, so he was happy. 6000 miles in 3 weeks seems like a lot but didn't feel like a road trip and we had a wonderful holiday.
After 2 airboat rides in the Everglades, Peter has been looking up Glen-L airboat plans, so that might be the next project. Ideal in our shallow, tiny river. It will give Tyler a run for his money on who can have the wettest boat ride too!
Thanks to everyone for your hospitality and sharing your lovely boats with us. If you're ever in Australia, please get in touch...... We love America and will be back! Need to do the Gulf Coast next time. Best wishes Sara Jenkins (authorised by Peter)
