Wow Bill, that is early, but a good number already. I plan to attend this year and hopefully I can drag Lisa along. Just haven't reserved a cabin yet.

I'm definitely planning to come, but Melanie may not. She has relatives in Birmingham and may stay there while I come to the Gathering, and then just drive up with her relatives on Saturday just for the day so they can see the boats.

I do know this, if Melanie comes, we won't be staying in the floating cabins. The Admiral has made herself very clear on this; we'll be either in a land cabin or a hotel. If Melanie doesn't come, I'll probably just sleep in my vehicle like Chris (VuPilot) did last year, as he said it wasn't bad at all being that they had nice showers right on site.

Hey all you fellow boaters/boat buildersl,

Marta, and Myself are planning to go to the gathering. I am not sure if we will try to stay in one of the one bedroom floating apartments, camp out in our boat, truck, or find a tent campground nearby. We are planning to be there Thursday night, and we hope to do the Friday Cruise to Chattanooga. We will bring our 17.5 foot Bayliner, unless weird stuff happens and we get our Glen-L design started and completed. (Highly unlikely but not impossible as of writing this)

Last week (April 5,-April 8th, 2018) We inherited a car from my great Aunt. So we took a bus from Melbourne, FL to Indianapolis, and drove our new to us car back home. We stopped at Hales Marina to check out the area and floating apartments and stuff. Here are pictures on Sunday April 8, 2018.

Anyway we are looking forward to meeting you all at the gathering, and I hope to be able find time to post more stuff rather than just being a lurker here on the website.

My Glen L project is a modernized version of the Phantom/Catalina Express/Calypso built as Dual Console.

The old powerhouse is haunted! We can probably get a tour for you, too.

A tour of powerhouse sounds neat. Even if it isn't haunted. I took some electrical powerplant design courses in college, but have only toured and worked in coal and nuclear power plants, no modern hydroelectric, or antique hydroelectric yet.

I have been part of the design of most types of power plants. I have been involved with several hydro plants. There is a pump storage hydro plant by TVA on the way to Chattanooga, Raccoon Mountain. They do tours of it, I think.

Bill, I've seen that on the satellite maps. It's essentially a gigantic battery right?

You are right. Nuclear power plants run best at 100%. At night, when you don't need that much power, they pump water up the mountain. during the day, when the power is needed, the water is used to cover peak demand.
