G-12 "Friday Lunch Run To Chattanooga"

Post by neel thompson » Mon Aug 06, 2018 5:10 am

I am starting to put the lunch run together so I can make reservations in Chat for the marina and restaurant. Here is what works best: We depart Hales Bar Friday morning by 10:30 AM (CDT). We get to the marina in Chattanooga about an hour later and walk up to the restaurant (about 1/2 mile). We eat lunch and get back to the boats around 2 PM (CDT) and get back to Hales Bar between 3 and 3:30 PM. The only way this works is for everyone to be at the dock at HB on time with the boats launched, fueled, and ready to go. You can get fuel in Chattanooga as well.

I put together my best guess of boats I think will be on the "Run". There may be boats on the list that will not be going, and there are for sure boats not on the list that will be going. I need to know any additions or subtractions in order to give the marina in Chattanooga an idea of how much dock space we will need. There will be plenty of seats available on the boats for everyone to go. I will also need a "head count" a week or so before the Gathering so I can make reservations for us at the restaurant. But for now, let's figure out how many boats. Thanks for your help in advance,,,Neel

Here's what I think:

Me-- Gentry
Paul Kane-- Hot Rod
Bill Edmundson-- Tahoe
Butch Barto-- Tahoe
Big Dave, Kevin, Ray- Either Big Dave's boat or a HB rental boat
Jeff Cobb- Mahogany Custom
Bob Brandenstein-- Malahini
Matt B-- Malahini
Bob Maskel-- Sea Knight
Jim (Two J's)-- Bell Isle
John Amundson-- Monte Carlo
Matt Hood-- Geronimo
Roberta-- Torpedo
John Holmes-- Gentry

Rich and I for sure with the Torpedo. No room for any passengers, though.

Neel

I'll be going down next week to make sure the Tahoe/Lola boat is ready to go. I can take a total of 5, 6 if I have to. Just need to make sure I have enough life jackets loaded.

Me plus 1 for the restaurant. I will have seating for 2-3 passengers but probably just type 4 throwables for cushions.

Dylan and I plan to meet up with the group at Big River, like last year.

BTW, did you see Neel's Gentry on WoodBoater today? http://www.woodyboater.com/blog/2018/08 ... le-part-1/

Neel,
Thank you for looking after the details. I plan to bring a Malahini with room for 2 maybe 3 additional passengers. We take that little brown dog with us too too.

Butch is in. The big Tahoe will take 8, I think.

The squirt and I will be making the trip- have room for one! Kelli and the baby will be searching for a safer and quieter ride (ear plugs are a must in the jet squirt).

Anyone care to race? lol

Hi Neal,
We are in with our Malahini. We could take two additional. (Three if lightweights)

I don't know if I have a boat this year or not. The Bartender is down to get the deck redone. I got the Tahoe out just to run her. All it would do is squeal. Won't crank. I got my jumper box out... nothing. It has been a bad week. I got a new tablet to be a monitor for the drone... It doesn't work. We had a big limb fall out a tree into our driveway. Nothing done on the Bartender deck. I came down to get the Tahoe ready. I did get the new fender on the Bartender trailer, almost. Many of the bolts are carriage bolts. I can't drill square holes. The yard men got torn up by yellow jackets. Had to kill that nest.

So much crap this week. I can't even remember it all. I'll at least bring the canoe. But, I can't take anybody to Chattanooga in the canoe.

I think I'll have a beer!
