Chickamauga Lake Reconnaisance run

Post by kens »

Thursday as I was inbound for G14, I performed recon on the new G15 venue, as well as the new G15 river run.
G15 will be on Chickaumauga mile 504.5, it is in a protected slough, so no more of the boats slapping/bouncing off the docks in the wind waves.
No more of the big rollers coming off the main body.
The new place does have a kazillion RV spots, but they do have us all blocked out for cabins and boat dock spaces, and pavillion.
Remember the Rolling Stones song? You get what you need?
Hales Bar earned a vote of no confidence and we are moving.

I checked out 7 places to eat you can get to by boat.
CottonPort marina, upriver, a river run, but, not much pretty nor especially inviting. Bar food at its worst.

Jacob Myers, it looks the nicest of all, small dock, but too close for the power boats. A nice 'river run' for canoe or Ampeater.
there is also a bait shop with a bar food grill, another Ampeater run.

Dayton, Tn is closer than was Jasper, looks newer all around, and has options such as hotels, places to eat or shop. There is a craft brewery.

Down river there is 2 places west side of lake, neither was open for lunch, dinner only.

Down river there is 2 places east side of lake open for lunch. Harrison bay marina office said no transient boat slips.
Then I found AMIGOS !!! This is it !!
This is our G15 river run. about 25 miles down, just below Harrison park

I talked to Ken Saturday morning. We agreed that, pending Saturday night comments, it's probably time to move. Looks like Blue Water next year! :)

Thanks so much Ken for visiting BlueWater. Just let me know when to start booking. It seems like they have many multi-bedroom units. I plan on booking something one bedroom, but if anyone wants to combine for a two or three or four, let me know. I am planning on bringing a dog with me.

We stopped by Blue water resort for a look and it is really nice. The rest rooms at the office were clean and attractive - no cob webs . every thing looked great and this was Sunday afternoon after the week end.
The lodge is a little bit of a up-hill walk from the docks but you can always drive. I believe they have some golf carts available.
There is a pavilion by the pool and one near the docks also and both will easily seat 50 or more for a dinner or breakfast or karaoke etc...
The last 1/2 a mile of road getting to Blue Water Resort is a little narrow, and there is somewhat of a blind turn on a curve of the main road turning onto it so be careful...

The staff was very helpful and courteous during my brief visit and we will be booking soon.

I don't really see much value in the pavillion by the office, not with the store traffic right there.

But, the pavillion by the lodge is priceless !!
Did you walk through that?

The Pavilion by the pool (which is across from the lodge) was really nice. It had a bar that could also be a buffet, sinks refrigerator. Also the building had nice and clean restrooms.

That might be the best spot for spaghetti and all the pot luck meals.

That's up to Neel, but his back yard is baddass in its own right.
The main pavillion is likely for sure FRi. nite & Sat nite.

We can bring a pop up if you think we really need any. This place looks so well planned and laid out. The more I look at the website, the more I like it. Ken, John, Chris every one else involved, a big thank you.

If we have that last RV spot to hang around we may want some of our canopies around in that grassy area for a shady hangout spot.

I chose that last RV spot because it is closest to the docks, flat, hard surface, with electricity & water.
that grassy area you speak of is the edge end of Neel's back yard.
grassy area is not actually level, but the RV pad is.
grassy area has some trees/shade/kids playset
all this will fall into place when we get there.
We cannot talk it to death right now,
We just need to show up, we'll see how the ball rolls when we get there.
Myself and 2 other members have seen this venue, it will a good time I am sure.
So far, if I count correct, we got 6 fire pits, 2 pavillions, 22 rooms, 2 dozen dock slips, 2 slips w/shore power, 2 sets of public bathrooms, a swimming pool, a gas dock, two 3-level decks, a store that's open, 2 river runs, a fishing pond, a golf cart, 2 sets public showers, a RV pad, Neel's sphaghetti, a keg of beer, Low Country boil,,,, and a partridge in a pear tree !!!!
