Flats Flyer frame kit and plans

Postby JasonG » Thu May 31, 2018 3:43 pm

I bought this Frame kit a few years ago from a former member on here. An opportunity has come up for me to take a job in a different state so I will be moving and it needs to go.
It is constructed with vertical grain Douglas fir, marine plywood , resorcinol glue and silicon bronze fastenings. This was his second boat so he was an experienced builder and the frame kit is done well. Includes stem, breast hook, all frames and complete transom.
Unfortunately, shipping is not an option. I may be able to arrange some travel but my time is very limited. That being the case, I will make a great deal for anybody who is interested and willing to come get it.
Located near Bainbridge, GA - Southwest part of the state

I live in Central FL not too far of a drive from you. What are you thinking price wise and what is included? Do you have the plans and any other parts/hardware

I do have the plans, they are included with the frame and various silicon bronze screws and ring shank nails. I don't think it's enough to complete the boat but I could be wrong, it's been a while since I looked in the bin. I will get some pics posted.
I would like to try to get 300 for the whole enchilada but I am open to offers

That's a great deal for someone Jason. It seems to me that a frame kit would be a good way to get started on a first-time build. I wish I knew someone looking to build a Flats Flyer.....

Jason Thank you for taking the time to post the pictures. Im really considering doing a build of the boat, just weighing all my options and not jumping the gun like I usually do! The price seems reasonable to me, its not an issue of your price its just making sure im going to be able to do this start to finish so I have been doing a lot of reading and watching youtube videos like a posessed man.

I understand and agree with your thought process! I can't make a move without research either. When I bought this frame kit I had big plans for it and being so close to the big bend in FL I figured one day I would be able to enjoy it. Work responsibilties, work changes and now a great opportunity (career change) for me is the ONLY reason it's for sale. I'll be moving up to the Shenandoah Valley in VA where I will have more time to build and use a boat, but not a flats boat. Unfortunately there's hardly any water close to where I'm moving to!
You can rest assured that you will find any and all the help you need right here on the forum!
If you have any questions or anything let me know.

Jason
