Stuck throttle on my Zip!

Post by Andy Garrett » Tue Dec 04, 2018 7:07 pm

The last time I took out the Zip, the wife and I were at full throttle on Lake Lowell here in Idaho.
When I went to throttle back on my 70s vintage MerControl, it was stuck full open. I damn near ripped it from it's mounting trying to free it.
Eventually, I killed the engine via key as we approached the no-wake zone at the dock. We paddled in.

Before I tear it apart and see what is what in there, has anyone experienced this?

Andy

Is the control cable metal?

Could be several things, Andy. Check under the hood and make sure all the engine connections are OK and not out of order. I would disconnect the throttle cable from its lever on the motor and try operating the controller with it disconnected. If it works then try operating the lever on the motor to see if it is jammed there. If that's OK, it could be a bad cable or something jammed in the controller.
