A client of mine has a marine converted Windsor 351 sitting on a pallet in his factory at a giveaway price. He was going to have it installed in is older Sea Ray I/O but has had a hard time finding a flywheel to replace one with broken teeth. Being new to the boat building community bear with m ignorance.

The engine comes ready to bolt in and run. It was running when removed from the boat. He replaced the old engine with this one when the former 350 ended up with a cracked head. It does have the bell housing.

However, it has the original oil pan which places the engine too high for my Riviera build. How hard is it to find a lower profile oil pan? Also, how hard can it be to find a flywheel for a Windsor as it is not an M engine.

Can someone point me to a web link showing how a transmission bolts to the engine, as I am thinking it using the original bell housing attachment points.

Thanks

Dana; Don't know whether this will be of any help, but I used a Kubota industrial engine in my Titan build as I wanted to go dry stack and keel cooling.
Therefore I didn't get any bellhousing or transmission adapters from Kubota ( not a marine setup like a Beta Marine )
My Kubota dealer got bellhousing and drive plate assy from Hayes and it fit up perfect to the ZF transmission. Price was reasonable also.
So if you do need something like this you could check with Hayes. Think they're in Wisconson or somewhere in that area.

hooking up the tranny is pretty much a no-brainer, if, you got the bellhousing. all you should need after that is the drive damper. the drive damper bolts onto flywheel and engages the tranny splines.

Pleasure Craft engines were based on Ford blocks at one time. My 1979 PC uses the 351W block and was fitted with a lower profile oil pan by the manufacturer. You can get replacement pans at Discount Inboard. Although theyre expensive, they do come equipped with the oil drain fitting set up for an extraction hose and have the dipstick relocated.
