Thank you Hakan. I hope your new year will be a great one.
I should be able to get back to work on the core molds by the end of this week. I will post a photo when I have something of substance to show.
Jon.

What engines will these fit?
215 Buick,
300 Buick?
Rovers? (all)?
Oak is over rated, everything about it takes extra time; then it warps, splits or checks !!!

They will fit 215 Buick/Olds/Pontiac/Rover.
I'm not sure about the 300 Buick?

I still have to make the patterns, then make castings, then set up to do the mill work. I will do the mill work on a CNC mill that way once I have my fixtures made and programs written I can complete additional sets in a timely manner. I'll post photos when I have the rough castings, and more when I have a finished pair.

Long time no hear now John, hope you're allright?
Do you keep up with your previous time schedule? Pics?

i have a 215 olds engine that has been waiting for 30 years for a new vehicle to power. i saw progress was being made on new exhaust manifolds for this beauty and i wondered how that was going. thanks.

Just an update-- Progress has been slowed to a halt the past couple of months with the manifold project but I plan on starting up next week with work on this again. I have the casting box finished and have started carving the manifold plug from wood. Perhaps I will have some finished manifolds ready by the end of May. When I start back on this project I will take a photo and post it here so you can see the casting box and manifold plug.

I'm sitting in a hospital room with my brother who is recovering from a hip joint replacement. He's asleep and I'm reading over the forum for the umptenth time.
On this Buick/Rover 215 exhaust manifold issue, I would take an exhaust manifold gasket to my favorite parts store and compare it with those from every small v8 and 4cyl in the place. Maybe there will be one or more that are somewhat close. If so, see if marine exhaust manifolds are available for them. Them get a fabricator to fashion a transition piece (you could use a header flange kit as the basis for the adaptor.

I'm just thinking out loud and have no idea that this can be done, but that's how I'd approach the problem.

i am a mechananic, automotive and marine, and the 215 and its various family of engines have a singular exhaust port spacing and bolt pattern so the manifolds have to be made to fit that head. it is a sad marine engine fact. i was wondering about tubular headers with water jets at each port as i have seen on some boats with modified engines for racing or high horsepower. they just inject the water right at the exhaust port of each cylinder and the individual pipes are cooled. anyone know more about this?
