I got to tour the BRP (Evinrude) manufacturing plant in WI

Post by darthplywood » Fri Nov 08, 2013 8:41 am

I was traveling to Milwaukee this week and managed to snag a private tour of the BRP Outboard manufacturing plant! As a third generation Evinrude nut this was definitly awesome! Unfortunatly i wasnt allowed to take pictures inside the plant but i was definitly able to see how Evinrudes are built from begining to end. Its definitly worth doing if you are an Evinrude enthusiast and you ever have a chance.

now i just need to check out the Glen-L headquarters and i'll be all set....

A bummer you couldn't take pictures inside the plant.

Are all sizes of Evinrude outboards built at that plant?
Do the motors get a test run before they leave the factory?

they make the 15hp - 300hp at that plant. The smaller outboards are actually repatriated from another brand (i think Tohatsu). They all get tested. I was actually able to see the test tank areas. it was really cool!

Very cool!
Last time I was there I went to the harley museum, which was fun.
Didn't know this plant was there (or gave tours). Will definitely check it out if I get a chance to visit there again.
Did you have some inside connections to get this 'private tour'?

I got to see the OMC plant near Dalton GA just before it closed and became a part of Bombardier.
I've also been though the Chevvy II and Old's Omega plant in Miamisburg Ohio.
Those are interesting to me as I was going to be an "Industrial Engineer" which is setting up assembly lines.
