console skiff power

Post by nkalson »

Most console skiffs seem to run 40 or 50 hp. I am wondering if anyone runs less hp with good results. I don't need to go extraordinarily fast, just get up on a plane and get around.
Thanks!

Id like to see what one would do with a modern 25hp motor. I think it would do pretty well if not overloaded.

A 25 would definitely get you up on plane. Probably a top speed in the mid 20's

That's what I am thinking. I think i'll borrow a tiller steer and try it out when I'm ready. Save a couple thousand.
I'll post pics of my progress when I get going. Waiting for weather to get a little drier here in NorCal.
Thanks for your reply.
