I bought this engine from a guy in Texas and had it shipped to me here in NC. It is a 1977, 1150 inline 6. It looked like it was laying out in the mud as it was really dirty, mice house in it under the cowling, many Mud Dobbers nest in crooks and crannies so I took the water hose to it and a stiff paint brush and got it cleaned up pretty decent. Now the guy told me he had it running, HAR HAR...I really have my doubts about that as all of the wires had no insulation on them for the interior wiring and if he fired it up then things would have fried big time.

Dropped the lower section and the water pump impeller was shot too. I pulled the plugs and unhooked all of the wiring and done a compression test, 150PSI on all cyl. so guess that worked out good so far. Any hoo I bought a new set of interior wiring, exterior harness, new stator, went and rebuilt the carbs, cleaned up the distributor as the contacts were corroded something bad, installed a new carbon piece in it and of course installed a new water pump kit. Now those engineers should think about some things they draw up and then try to repair it them selves. I don't understand why they could not have made the water tube in the housing a little longer to be able to align it with the pump. Well after much cussing and pushing and using a srcrew driver I fianlly manged to get it in place. But in the mean time I had a block of wood in behind the engine to have it kicked back a little and the damn thing slipped out and the prop came down on my wrist and gave me a one inch gash. OUCH.

So with it all back together and I think I am ready to fire it up but, I have one part left over that looks like a spacer and for the life of me can not figure out were it goes. So I was wondering if I took a shot of it and posted it here would anyone know what it is.

Anyway I excited about getting it up and running as it will go on my Super Duper Spartan once I get that completed.

Sounds like you may have found a gem. Don't worry, in the 36 years since they designed that engine, they have made some improvements. :D

The space you are referring to sounds like it may be the washer that fits on the drive shaft. You need one of those. Sometimes the previous one is ok and maybe that is still on the shaft?
