Is there a reason to use nails instead of screws in the construction of the frames? I would think screws would hold tighter than nails.
Thanks for your help.

My understanding of the nails is that for the most part when the plans/boats were designed, the holding power of adhesives was not what it is today. There is somewhat of a debate about using screws at all. I did not use screws when making the frames, just epoxy and some clamps. I sure someone else will tell you to use screws

Nails are cheaper and on the frames you don't have to assemble them and take them apart to glue them and boy are nails a pain in the patootie when you have to pull them out!

All your doing is holding the wood together until the epoxy dries anyway.
