Hey! have you launched yet? if not...maybe we could do a double launch. I "should" be getting mine back from the evinrude service center this week. i have decided...that i will launch prior to the windshield being done. i am hoping to launch next week some time.

Nope, no launch yet. I hope I can do it next week. I'll be out of town Mon-Wed. I hate the thought of launching on a busy holiday weekend. A lot of very obnoxious people tend to show up at the lake on holiday weekends. Many have no boating experience and are apparently illiterate because they don't know what NO WAKE spells! The majority of them seem to come from the same state but out of respect for those on this forum, I won't say which one

Jeff.
Looking good! Your perseverance and hard work look to be paying off. It has to be exciting to be this close. I hope everything goes well on the launch.

Interesting story folks. I was highly annoyed yesterday with my stomach churning and the old BP was probably also elevated. I'm out of town, but my engine shop contacted me to let me know there were some issues with my ETEC engine. I found out that it had a computer from a 2006, not a 2007 engine and the hours were way under represented. The injectors were not working correctly, the fuel pump was improperly wired and the trim motor was about to burn out among other problems. BRP confirmed all the history on the engine and it was not what I thought I had bought. Basically, I had been bamboozled, hoodwinked, hornswoggled, duped, swindled... I had paid $4000 for a big white boat anchor, so I was pissed and embarrassed about being taken.

The funny thing is, I have contacted the seller several times since buying this engine in February. He has always replied and did as recently as June 15. So, I sent him an email yesterday with the full story of the assessment. I did not expect to hear anything from him ever again. However, I did hear from him this morning. He has offered to completely replace the engine at his cost with another etec that he says runs perfectly. He will ship the replacement to the dealer for them to check it out and he will also pay for shipping both ways.

I don't know how long this is going to take and I may miss G5. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Definitly. Don't miss the Gathering. I am nervouse enough about my launch. Every time you buy a used outboard (especially from out of town) you take that kind of a chance.

I have a great amount of fear about my first launch in seeing that my motor runs as advertised.

I feel really bad about what happened with this. It is good to see that the seller is going to make right on it.

Find out the serial number on the proposed engine thats being shipped and allow the dealer to run that number through the database telling you the delivery and startup information and also any warranty claims. We will hold our breath for you until delivery of the second one too.

That really sucks, but at least it seems that the seller will make good on it. Like Mike said, we'll keep our fingers crossed and hold our breath. Please don't miss the G5!!! You need a break and it will be fun and good to get away from an annoying and frustrating summer. Take your time, it will come together, and there is always next year.

I'm not out of the woods yet, either. My old Merc looks good, but I have yet to hear it run. That may happen this weekend. Please keep your fingers crossed for me ,too, everyone!!

That the nightmare situation that everyone who purchases an outboard worries about... sorry to hear you had to endure it, but glad the seller is stepping up and not leaving you hanging. As bad as this news is, it certainly can be much worse from the sounds of it.

At least you found this out before you got stranded or in a situation much more dangerous with a failed engine. We're all pulling for ya!

The last time I had work done by a marine shop was 2008 so rates may have changed but then their hourly rate was $103/hour and they charged $35/day for storage begining the 3rd day after they had told you to pickup your boat. You may want to settle up with the marine shop for their diagnostic labor thus far and bring the boat home to avoid the storage fees until the replacement outboard arrives. Just letting you know because you probably haven't seen an invoice yet to read the back of it where the $35/day storage fees are written.

Hey Gang, I just managed to check my email again and the seller offered give me a 100% refund if I want to look for another engine. In a way, that sounds like a good idea or I should at least ask him if he has something smaller than the 90HP which is really too much for a Malahini. I'm sure $4,200 could buy me a nice 60HP engine. Also, I'm definitely going to go and settle up with the shop. I'm sure I'm going to owe them a couple of hundred $. I'll definitely take her home. The shop may have an engine or a lead on one

BTW, he did give me the new mocel and serial numbers and I'm going to have it checked out. It definitely appears to be a consumer model number this time and not a commercial model.
