Got an email this afternoon indicating that the replacement engine was shipping and would probably arrive tomorrow. So, I may get this thing in the water in September afterall.

Hmm, tempting, but it's kinda far from Singapore. I will be home on Friday and it's only a couple of hours away...

Just got a phone call from the Evinrude dealer (actually, the second one today) and my boat is ready. The new replacement engine is very good with no found issues. I can pick up the boat tomorrow! It will make it into some H2O in Sept.

I've done some Googling of the guy and business who sold it to me. His reputation is exceptional and others have reported the same type of service after the sale. I would probably buy another engine from him. I would definitely check it out personally or have a surveyor check it next time.

Glad to hear it worked out and that Kicked in the Head is ready to see water!

You'd better take some pictures as it happens or God help me I will drive down to wherever you are and make your boat name come to life!

Mine won't be hitting water with mine this season.. so at the very least I can live vicariously through yours!

Better pack 2 cameras... just in case ;)

What is the name of the dealer?

Thanks Iggy,
I am taking a day or two off next week to launch this thing. I won't be taking it up to our lake since the season is ending quickly up in the mountains. I live about 15-min from Lake Lanier and that is where I'll do my first rides. I have my digital camera and I also bought a little Flip Cam for video.

Warren,
The dealer is actually near you. It is Franzen Marine in Tampa. The guy is a real stand up guy. It took a few weeks to get everything switched, but I did drag my feet making the decision about replacement or refund. He paid for shipping both ways. Brian Franzen is the owner's name and he also sells lots of stuff on ebay. You can google Franzen Marine and you'll find him referenced in several boat forums. The Evinrude dealer I took it to is Gwinnett Marine near Lake Lanier. They are an authorized Evinrude dealer. My total bill was $665. That included the work they did on the bad one, removing the bad one, installing the new one, rigging and testing it. Also, this includes the top grade xd-100 oil and a prop. Considering all they did, it isn't too much money, but I could have spent a bit less if the original engine was better.

Glad it's working out.

I hadn't heard of them, but I've seen lots of Craigslist ads for Nautical Marine in Tampa, and wondered if it was them.

You still need to bust over there to the Gathering to at least meet people!!!

As close as it is for you, I'd be there in a flash!

OK Lads and Lasses, Kicked In The Head is back home. New engine starts first turn of the key and runs nicely. She has new fluids and plugs and a brand new 15p prop. She is a 2006 ETEC 90 with a little over 200 hrs. Now, I need to put the gauges and interior back in and get her nice and clean for a plunge in the drink.

Glad things finally came together for you guys.

Will the dealer work with you on the prop?

Right off the top of my head,I'd say that prop doesn't have enough pitch, but water trials will tell.

I run a 16" on a heavy fiberglass deep vee with a 75HP, and a 16-18" on a heavy 21'cabin boat with a 150HP.

I bet you'd need about a 19-21 pitch with your set-up.....we'll see.

Yes, he will allow me to trade if I need more pitch.

Also, I've added a full frontal photo for those of you who are aroused by such things.
