Iggy, this horn is really loud. Since it's a single, it does not play a chord like Roberta's, but I promise you it is really loud. I hope I will have some photos and video in a couple of days. I sure hope I'm smiling and not frowning when I do it. Especially after reading rdjohnston50's post about his launch. He has an ETEC and it weighs the same as mine.

You are now entering into the next phase of boat building, tweaking and refining the boat and setup that maximizes the boat's potential and performance. You will also be adding small details that further makes that boat funner.

I almost just want to hookup the horn to test it out and wake up some neighbors ;)

I am also reading about other Malahini launches with a keen eye. I have a big 90HP ~240lbs motor as well, with a 18gal tank and battery planned in the rear. However, one of the very few deviations I made to 'spec' from the original plans was my transom angle.. its 18 degrees... +5 degrees more than the original design angle of 13 degrees.

I've heard from a few other builders here on Glen-L that they ended up using shims on the engine mount and a local boat shop owner also mentioned he thinks the added angle was the right move.

Unfortunately it looks like Spring 2012 before I can find out for sure... so in the mean time I am reading & watching what others are doing this fall.

I hope the weather is good enough for you to launch in a couple days... I know if it was me I'd be going a little nuts waiting!

There are two cold fronts coming back to back and that is bringing rain! Wednesday looks like the worst day and that is the day I was going to take off to launch the boat with my wife. Disappointing, but we do need the rain.

Here is a photo of my rigged engine. My steering setup worked out great and I did not have to do any major surgery to the decks. The 2-gauge battery cable was a bit too large, but they got it in. I got a good deal on the red cable, so I just used it for both pos and neg. Some black electrical tape did the trick for the negative cable

A few more photos:

I have all the decals on now:

Some interior photos (I guess I can take the blue tape off the steering wheel). I'm curious about how the wooden floors were this summer in the heat. My snap-in carpets stretched a little:

Look at the finish on that beauty! Good enough for a guitar! Beautiful boat, can't wait to hear how she runs!

Thanks! It looks like the rain is here Through Friday. I was planning to launch at Lake Lanier since it is closer than our lake. But sea trials at Lake Lanier on a weekend is probably not the best thing. Maybe it won't be so bad this late in September.

Iggy,
You are probably right about the transom angle. A little extra is probably not a bad thing and with the electric tilt/trim it's easy to adjust. I hope I do go porpoising. Shims are easy enough to install but I'd rather not have to.

So is the additional angle just so you can trim in more? Are there any other advantages/disadvantages to the increased angle?
I'll be starting on my transom this weekend, so this would be good timing for me.
The celerity plans call for only a 12 degree angle.

I think the main advantage is to prevent the boat from porpoising. Trimming the engine out tilts the prop more upward which pushes the stern down more. I could have launched today since the rain stopped early this morning and the sun even came out. I needed my wife to assist and she isn't available on Thursday or Friday.
