A friend suggested that I try Bar Keepers Friend. It's right in the grocery store next to Comet cleanser.

It's an enzyme cleaner with a little polishing compound. This stuff is great. Took film and light corrosion right off chrome, stainless steel, dirty waterline... It's fine on fiberglass. It says it's good on glass. But, there are to many good glass cleaners out there.

I don't know if it's the same product. But, it's on the same shelf.

I try to clean mine once a year... whether it needs it or not.

We all know that common chrome-plated zamac fittings corrode badly. I went with a lot of aluminum parts for that reason. A little wipe of wax on aluminum goes a long way to keep alum looking good.

I find it almost amusing how much simple common stuff is great stuff.
Vinegar - cleans up epoxy resin
Bar keepers friend - general cleaning
Wax - slows corrosion

On my Harley, I had the primary cover off a while back to replace a leaking gasket. Of course, Harley's don't leak oil, they merely mark their places in the driveway. For those of you not familiar with Harleys, the primary cover is the huge cover on the left side of the bike that is down low. A lot of Harleys have chrome covers and thus there is this big splash of chrome on the left side but the primary on my bike is aluminum. So while I had it off, I started noticing just how discolored it had become over the years. This is a 1988 model bike. So I wet sanded the clear coat off and polished the aluminum until it had a shine that was very close to chrome. Now when it needs a little cleaning up, I use Windex. If you have chrome or polished aluminum, an ammonia based glass cleaner is GREAT!

For cleaning plexiglass windshields such as on a full dress motorcycle, the face shield on a helmet or the plexi windscreen on a boat, try "Nu-Finish, the Once a Year Car Polish." It comes in a bright orange squeeze bottle and you can find it at any of the Car Parts places like Auto Zone and Advance. This stuff is an amazing cleaner in addition to being a good polish. A friend told me about it because he has used it for years to clean the plexi on his Piper Cub. I apply AND remove it with a micro fiber cloth. I get the micro fiber towels at Sam's Club. You can get like a year's supply for about $11 if I remember.

Ok, that's enough tips from me. I'm no end all expert in this category.
