My first time in this forum though I've felt so much at home in Glen-L since I began ordering various plans--there was only snailmail then--and eventually building a modified Zip (http://www.glen-l.com/picboards/picboard6/pic372a.html) that has been absolute fun to use. Thanks to Gayle and John!

I will soon be helping a friend jump-start the construction of his Glen-L Sea Knight and since boatbuilding is a never-ending learning experience for me (the first ever boat I built was glued with Weldwood!), I'm hoping to pick up more new stuff in this forum especially from other Sea Knight builders and share whatever will be useful to others.

Interesting job! Welcome and thanks for taking the time to document your build in such detail. A clean job for sure too!

Thanks for the welcome.

My Zip certainly does look better in photos. :) But it has been under continuous modification. I recently upgraded to a 40hp Yamaha and found out that I now have to put in the spray rails aft that I omitted--I knew there was a reason for those! especially when running at around 30mph. Also I have trawled the forum for a windshield design to keep the spray out when it gets gusty and the waves kick up.

I'm basically a sailor though, and for myself I'm currently lofting a modified Belhaven 19 cat ketch (by B&B Yachts not Glen-L, sorry Gayle). I actually have the plans for the Glen-L 21CB but the Belhaven won over it because the unstayed cat ketch has a whole lot fewer strings and looks like a much easier to rig at the ramp though I'm sure the Glen-L 21CB would be the faster and higher-pointing boat. But I have to say for the record that I prefer do POF rather than messy S&G. Maybe that's why I'm more than glad to help in my friend's Sea Knight build.
