Are there any good tips out there for dealing with sag in a resin coat applied to a surface that is not horizontal? Will squeege-ing or tipping off help? Adding filler? Prayer and fasting?

praying and fasting works well if you use thin coats. I put mine on with the rollers from Gayle and then gently brushed it with a foam brush.

Maybe it will be done by G6 and maybe not.

don't ask me......i have so many runs and sags in my varnish, paint epoxy and every other liquid used on my boat it embarassing. lets just say i go used to sanding....and sanding....and sanding....and there are still plenty of spots on the boat where you can see sags.. :x (i hate to sound so negative but that is the most frustrating aspect of the build to me)

Your best bet is to apply many thin coats and a little light sanding between them. That worked the best for me.

Thin coats put on with a very short nap foam roller works for me. My preference in rollers are the WEST 7" rollers, although the ones sold here look to be about the same thing as the WEST rollers :D

I've found the ones sold here to be the best.

I haven't tried west.....too much money when Glen-L's work fine for me!

yeah, I've been buying them since before I came over here. I'll try some of the ones sold here next time I need some, but for now I'm only paying about $0.15 more for the west ones so I don't feel too bad about my ignorance of these

I am at that phase in the building of the Lo Volt. I think the runs in the epoxy are a fact of life no matter what I do. Here is how I have learned to deal with it so far.

Apply as thin a coat as needed to get the job done and smooth with brush before really setting up but don't mess around to much!!!

The Porter Cable Model 7346 is the most incredible tool for sanding down the runs in just minutes with 80 gritt paper. The tool has a variable speed control.

After sanding down I mix the fillet epoxy with one part silica and one part microsphers into a peanut butter paste that dosen't run and trowel it over the areas in a thin coat with the West Marine large yellow squeege.

After the fillet has smoothed out all junctions it is an easy sand by hand and with the Ridgid 5" orbital sander which is worth its weight in gold

I am still learning but this is what is working for me at this time.

Enjoy sanding.
