How about a Bellanca super viking 1900 hours total with 300 hours on engine for $35G?

When I was in high school, my mom and dad decided that I needed to go to military school so away I went to Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, VA. (I grew up in VA, mostly) They have an aviation program and the school owns a C-152. My dad signed me up for the flight program on the day I was enrolled without even telling me. He told me later that he did that because he always wanted to learn but never had the opportunity. So for the 2 years I was there (junior and senior years-'88and '89) I flew as much as I could. I went off to college and completely dropped flying mainly because of the cost. I picked up R/C flying about 10 years ago and I still fly some but my real passion is boats. I have been building and racing R/C gas boats for the past 4 years. I have had a love of boats and boating for as long as I can remember.

She ain't pretty but she was my "pretty". This is my only picture of my love affair with planes. I wish I still owned her.

 I built and flew several RC gliders and RC planes also so sting models my first being a bye plane my main interest was in model rockets rockets  I had my first real flight in a cesnia when I was a kid, (so long ago ). boats have always been part of my life starting with a row boat out on lake Erie in Ohio. Latter my father bought the birch craft and spent most of my weekends fishing and water skying behind it. later I was in the navy and spent some real time on ships and learned ocean navigation as part of my duties.

So there I was..., Super Bowl Sunday..., seven hours into my checkride experience (paperwork, application, oral, flight, chit-chat with the FAA examiner and the airport bums, etc.) when I finally get the the word that I passed.

I now hold my Private Pilot Certificate. 'Whew!'

I'll be checking out on a 172 and a Cherokee in the coming weeks as to more comfortably accomodate my passengers (read: make my wife happier than she would be in a 1976 C-150 with duct tape holding the panel covers on). Other than that, its full speed ahead on the boat!

It was a good day!

how cool Andy! Congratulations! Good luck with your first airplane search. Whatever you buy or build you will love it.

I landed mine on frozen Rangeley Lake yesterday. There were no boats around only sleds :D

Airplanes do seem to be a trend with this group. I had a pilot's certificate back in the early 1990s. I sold all my gear including my old Sporty's flight computer, headsets, intercoms, etc before we moved to our new home in 2004. I'm sure that old hand held flight computer is an absolute antique now  I was checked out on Cessna aircraft up to a 182RG and I also flew a 210 a couple of times. I had a friend who owned a Cherokee 180 and another friend with a Cessna 310 and a Beech Baron. I still like planes but really have no interest in flying these days. I take all my flights on the big D now and since I take so many of them, I normally get upgraded ;)
