Hello Everyone, I've recently read about vectra. In the article the Gentleman claims it has 10x the abrasion and impact resistance of fiberglass. Have any of you heard about it? Is it true? Thanks Ya'll

Many fabrics are better than glass for abrasion. Dynel is one I have tested, about 10 times better. I'm in the camp that knows that glass adds stiffness and strength. Kevlar adds tensile strength, but is pretty flexible. Carbon fiber is strong, stiff, light and expensive.

Choose your poison.

IMO carbon fibre is also quite brittle, as attested to by some of the violent mast failures.

You are correct. Carbon is subject to brittle failure. It is strong right up to the point it fails, then bang it's gone.

i dont know much about vectra but i can tell you that kevlar while stonger than glass would not be good for the bottom or sides the stuff is like a sponge when it comes to water as soon as theres a scrape or crack in the paint or resin it will wick up as much water as it can get
