So I am building the A-Lure. One of the features that appealed to me is the flush cockpit, it is an I/O there is no box over the engine ( shin bruiser) everything is below the sole. I have kept most of the weight at or around the CB. however the center of gravity is higher than most plastic boats since their cockpit sole is lower thus keeping bodies and weights lower in the hull. I was curious as to what to expect in the Sea kindliness area, will she roll more, what might I expect as compared to a similar boat wit a lower C/G. Caveat I have only been an arm chair boater never driven a boat I have always been a passenger and never paid much attention to the machinations of these vessels.
Thanks for your thoughts
Just added the the Bow Rails to the A-Lure I need tho tidy up some wiring and bolt on the outdrive add a prop and some paint and viola she'll be ready to splash by Spring
Merry Christmas All.

Hey there Solo!! Sorry I can't give any answer to your question, but just wanted to say it was good to see you on here and hear of your progress. I was just wondering the other day how it was going with you and hadn't seen you on for a while (or missed it if you were).

Merry Christmas to you also...and am looking forward to seeing pics of your boat wet! That is quite a project you have there.

Glad to hear from you. You may have a little more roll. But, I'll bet she's stable. Our boats are much lighter than glass boats. I'll bet the fuel economy will more than make up for the roll. I have friends with nice glass boats that can't afford to go out.

I got my 2012 California fishing license this week with ocean enhancement stamp for south of Point Arguello and spiny lobster report card. The green fish waypoints are location codes from the lobster report card. I think your A-Lure will do just fine going around to the waypoints and raising hoop nets filled with spiny lobsters awaiting melted butter, potatoes and maybe some green salad. I haven't overlayed the new marine protected areas taking effect 1 Jan 2012 in So Calif but there is a smartphone app that has them on a Bing map you can get from the fish and game web site.

Delta I would really like to go north and fish the delta with you There is still time and I know that fish do stray from the MLPA and fishermen shouldn't go there, We will wait until the get to within striking distance .I am gonig to do some hooping this side SoCal around Catalina this year.
Kens yeah our boats are about the same length I am at exactly 25 ft.not including the pulpit.Beam is 8' 6"

The Delta is pretty quiet right now a few bass and ducks being taken but the sturgen bite hasn't happened yet. I was thinking about comming down before March but am a little stumped as to how to go after these lobsters. I guess I should overlay this 2012 map and cull out the way points that are in an MPA and see what is left to hoop net. I might be better off going to Bodega Bay and hoop netting Dungeness crabs, it is closer for me.

The bait tank and bow rails look great in that picture you just posted of your A-Lure, she is one fine boat.

Solo, with your wider beam compared to mine, yours would seem to be more stable. But you added weight high compared to mine, I guess it would be a even wash comparing our boats. If you followed the plans, then I expect it to be quite stable. Do you have any kind of keel on her?
