I wiil try to tell you how I fitted the bottom front planking to the side front planking.
To make trimming the wood easerier.
I started by buying a piece of 1/4 x1 1/2 plastic at lowes.
Then I drill 2 holes in a scrap piece of wood to make a marking device. As shown in picture

Then I attached carpet tape to the side bottom planking at the joint, And then attached the plastic to the tape. making sure it was flush to the top edge where the bottom planking was going to fit. pics 2 and 3

Then attach bottom planking in place. Put the pencil point on the bottom planking and the eraser up aganist the plactic. Keeping the eraser tight aganist the plastic, and the pencil on the planking follow the edge of the plastic to transfer the line to the bottom planking.
Now you know where to cut the plywood to make it fit.
Works well.

Now with the line in place you can cut off excess and fit your piece.

Will today my son and I made some more progress. We installed 1 of the 2 final pieces. Up front towarda the bow. Next week end hope to do the final fitting to the other matting bottom planking and get it installed. Ready to try my hand at fiberglassing.

I really want to stain my sides with an oil base stain that I used on my 1966 Century Resorter. Have here that this is not a good thing to do.
What does everybody think about using oil base stain.

The epoxy does not adhere well to the oil based stains. Use 3 to 4 coats of CPES prior to the epoxy and it should be ok. You can do a test piece first.

Maybe it will be done by G6 and maybe not.

I emailed West Systems. And asked if I could stain with oil stain and then put ceps over it and be ok. They did not answer my question.
I wonder what Glen l recommends with there Epoxy.
