Hi there I just found this site tonight and am very excited about the potential information. Last year I rebuilt and restored a Star Craft Super sport and was an avid member of Iboats and the guys there were invaluable! My newest project "I think" is going to be a Glen L zip. I see a ton of them have been built so I'm excited to learn from others mistakes LOL. Just wanted to make a quick introduction, and I look forward to running into you guys on the board.

Welcome FJ.

Not sure where Holt is, but there are several Glen-L builders and at least one Zip in Michigan

Welcome to the forum. It's been a lot of years since I was in Holt. The Zip is a great boat. Come to the Gathering and ride in some.

Maybe it will be done by G6 and maybe not.

Holt, is just south of Lansing. The zip isn't a for sure decision yet. I'm undecided if I want to build a little bigger boat and make it the main boat or if I just want a toy and hence the Zip. Decisions... Decisions....

Whats going to be your normal passenger load? Just plan to use on the small lakes of central MI? Do you want to fish, ski or just cruise the lake?

Normal passenger load is almost never less than 4. I wouldn't mind the option for more. I love to ski and Toni just got up and started skiing for her first time last year. Use would mainly be on inland lakes but I would love a cruise around lake michigan shorelines in my home built wooden boat. The more I look into it the more I think I should bite the bullet and build " the dream" I dont really have a use or justification for 2 boats it is michigan not florida. So building my main boat seems more realistic and reasonable. Any thoughts on a model? I wouldn't mind an open bow or at least some bow seating of some sort, dont really see a lot of open bow woodies though.
