I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. My computer crashed and had to set up a new one which takes a little bit of work. Didn't loose any data and continued to work on the Ark.
I thought that the fairing of the carling with the sheer would realy be a fun project. Knew I needed a large plane to bridge the space and knew I had one somewhere. Found what I thought was my father's plane but realized it was my grandfather's plane ( His name was stamped on the side.) who was a cabnet maker in St Thomas, Ontario, Canada. The plane is over one hundred years old. Was still sharp - timed myself and was finished in 40 min. Had tears in my eyes when i finished the job. Dad died in my arms 30 years ago giving him CPR. He was my best friend.

The side decks were made with 3/4 White Oak and went on easier than I thought. When splicing together a tired to do it at the stern straight section of the hull with a 45 degree angle since that is what my miter saw cut. Worked fine. It takes 24 clamps and my wife to do the job. ( She can now say she helped build the boat) I V cut the bow and used epoxy with saw dust from the oak for fill as needed.
