I would think that 6/4 (net 1 1/4+) framing and a 6/4 transom door and some manly man bronze hinges and double latches should hold up to about anything the transom it self could handle. Curving the transom helps to deflect some of the big wave nasties and helps when backing down for that 1200 pound tuna. Whoa maybe I need to make the transom more like a landing craft front door for the really big ones? Big hydraulic winch, etc.

I have the first layer on and working on the second layer. With a newborn I don't have very much time to work on it.

Oyster, looking good, but that's an awfully wide chine spray/rub rail!!!!

It'll be great for fending off floating docks and other newbie run-a-muck boaters!!!

If you think its wide now, just wait until YOU finish the rest of the 20 or so inches to the sheer.

Well I had a few hours to work on the boat the last couple of days. I have over half of the second layer on the port side glued on. With the plywood on this thing looks big. Maybe I should have built a zip, I would have been done a month ago.

Well I have made some progress, working on the third layer after the reverse strakes and running rails got installed. Weller I have posted this shot to show the sheer that we discussed earlier is showing up a bit better now.
The longituals really fairs the hull out too. The key for the longitual planking if you go that route is to get the initial chine one correct and straight along the bottom edge with the boat upside down, and not go with the normal turn up. You will have extra plank sticking above the chine, so I shave the top half off along the chines.

Now that looks more like an icebreaker than my little boat.   Awesome work as always my friend. :D What are you going to use as a stem cap? A front bumber off of a Ford would work. :P
