I've been thinking about building something else for the last couple of months. We were going to buy a SeaDoo or similar PWC for our daughters and their friends to use...we still may. But, I've always liked Squirts and the other small woodies. I just don't know if I have the patience or the time to build another ply on frame boat. My 51yr old back is not up to it

and both daughters are sophomores (university and high school). So, I have to build this thing quickly! Based on that and my previous experience with the process, I think I'll build another stitch and glue boat. My first was a stitch and glue kayak and I did it in four months. I was obsessed with that thing and when epoxy drying allowed, I worked on it until 2am...or later.
I was looking at the Dyno Jet or Dyno Mite, but decided on the Bingo since it can hold three passengers. Also, I've read a few of the build blogs about the Dyno Jet and installing the jet motor just doesn't seem all that easy. They always seem to require some extra engineering. Hanging an outboard is a breeze...finding a good one is not. The jet drive motors are definitely more plentiful.
Being shorter than my kayak, it should be easy to handle the 4x8 sheets of wood needed and will take up less space in the garage. I figure I can start on it next fall and maybe have it in the water by summer, 2013. If I can figure out a way to keep it in the water, I'll do it. I believe it will fit on a PWC floating lift if I can drive an outboard powered boat up onto one of those. The Malahini has it's own lift and will also stay in the water on it's lift during the season.
I ordered the study plans just to see what I need. Oh, and the name Irving? That's probably not what it would be named, but I remember the episode of Gilligan's Island when the Mosquitos came to visit. They were an early 60s rock n roll band with haircuts quite like the early Beatles. Their names were Bingo, Bango, Bongo...and Irving.
