So I just stopped by Raven Farms today and got my white oak for the framing. I picked up 125 Board foot of rift sawn mostly select some number 1. Total was 301 Bucks!! Kelvin will set you up with whatever you need at great prices!!! He is just North of Lansing, so if your in the area and need some lumber I highly reccomend. Here is his web site, http://ravenfarm.com/inventory.htm Check him out.

I have all my parts traced on the wood and rough cut outs on the table saw, and actually have about 30 board foot left over.... ooops my math must be off a bit, oh well I guess I will be building a white oak book shelf LOL

Price is a little high compared and to this area. Southern Michigan has had a very warm winter with many days in the 30's and 40's and even 50's. In a normal winter the lumber mills here have to compete with the fire wood dealers for white oak. I don't believe thats going to happen this year.

really? that price is high?? Are you sure you're not thinking of plain-sawn lumber?
$2.40/bf for rift sawn is crazy cheap compared to the prices around here.

That is about half the price I found everywhere else. I was extremely happy with the price and the quality. He also offers planing and edging for an additional .20 a board foot I had him edge one side and he didnt charge me just said tell people about my operation. You simply can't beat him. He gave me free range of the mill and I hand picked all my boards. Also every 10' board was at least 11'. He rounded down on everything. GREAT GUY
