hello everyone, I am building the sculling skiff and I think I have done most of my homework . My question is I plan to cover the bottom with one sheet of fiberglass but the ends are quite pointy, will the fiberglass form around this, or do I cut it like 4 inches long and wrap one side then wrap the otherover it. or am I missing something.

If you use one sheet, drape it over the hull for a day or so to let it "relax" and take the shape as much as possible.

You will still likely need to slit the cloth at the stems, and then overlap it around the sharp stems. It should be obvious to you how far you need to slit the cloth and overlap.

Jeff, I built a kayak that was 16.5ft long. It also has pointy ends. If you follow this procedure, you'll have good results. So the answer to your question is yes, wrap the ends with a separate piece of glass tape. Plus the extra glass tape over the ends will give you a little extra bump protection. Does your boat also call for an epoxy end pour? Oh and are you going to use a Piantedosi Row Wing?

I am not sure about the epoxy in the ends , are you talking about the fillets on the inside? it does give the option of expanding flotation in each end. As for the assembly I plan to build the slide seat that came with the boat. see my post in human power.
