My grand-daughter, Abby, has finished her book about the maiden voyage of Knot-So-Fast, when we spent 7 days travelling the Alabama River from Montgomery to Gulf Shores.

It is a short (23 page) book that describes the adventure from the viewpoint of an 8 year old, and of course we're very proud of her.

For those of you who would like to have a copy, go to the blogsite and there are directions for ordering one:

http://tomstug.blogspot.com/

(Yes, $5.99 is a little pricey for a 23 page book  - proceeds will go to Abby's college fund. And when your wife see's how much fun Abby had, and how much she learned on the trip, she may ask you to build another boat!   )

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I read the replies to Abby yesterday and her faced swelled with pride!

Thanks especially to all who have ordered a copy. Our first order from the printer is almost gone, and the 2nd order is on the way!!

Will get the check in the mail! I am hoping that there is some good scoop spilled on the captain of the tug in this book!

Two stories "the boat build and the book" that will be passed on for generations to come, what a way to leave your mark in your family history. Well done Abby and Tom, I'll look forward to the movie :D

I hope you don't mind, but I posted a link to your blog on another forum with suggestions that they pick up a copy. I'll be ordering a couple of copies myself, one for each of my twin girls that turn four next week :)

gstanfield,
That's great - several people have posted links via facebook, other forums, etc.

Thanks to everyone who sent for a book. We sold out of the first batch in 3 days :D :D , and the second batch is due here in a couple of days.

At a family gathering last week, two of Abby's male cousins, both a year younger than Abby, saw a draft copy of the book, and at the same time yelled "Wow, this is cool!" Then, almost like they'd rehearsed it, their grins turned down as they complained "Hey... this isn't fair." Now they both want to write a book themselves.

Book Review!

This is a must read for anyone wanting to get the family on the water. To hear Abby learn and grow in 7 days is special. Tom S. and Ray M. have proven you don't need a BIG boat to cruise. Get a boat built and get those kids out there, without text messaging.

I wish my stepson would have let me share some things with him when he was 8 or 9. Things might be different now for him.

Way to go Abby!

Bill
