Ok,

Bit the bullet. time for another build...but first glen L.

Going to build a cracker box and use a 2.2L 252hp 162kg engine, coupled with an 8degree down drive zf43 transmission.

I've just ordered the plans but i've had the engine and transmission for awhile.

What would change in the design to accomodate a 9 degree shaft angle?

Time.

Good choice :D I can't help much with your questions but once you keep the center of gravity as close as you can to the plans it should be fine as for the fuel tank it will be whatever I can get behind the seat without affecting the rudder arm.

Just a quick question to all cracker box builders.

is the 50ft of random board lenght enough for the complete frames?

Time.

Well I may as well turn this into a build thread.

I'm still waiting my plans, but i've got the plywood scarfed and fibre glassed together in to 18ft X4ft lengths.

The build form is complete, the stringers are mounted and a 8ftx4ft table set up to start drawing up templates for the frames.

My engine is done. I've finished trimming the seats.

soon to place an order for various bits and pieces.

The paint and fibre glass is ready to go and the trailer is on order.

Waiting, waiting waiting......

Plans arrived yesterday.

127F today in the workshop. But frames well on the way to being complete.
Stringers hung and notched.

The Kwila is a great wood to work, though stains the skin black in no time when handling, can't wait to have it epoxy encapsulated.

If anyone else is using a dark wood that bleeds a bit, lemon juice removes the stains from your hands whit no problems.

Time.

I'd have to agree with Fergal on both points!

Slow Day Today. Not much done.

Fairing started but broke 2 plane blades. Spent day chasing down some new blades.

Fibreglass but joints complete for topside and hull planking. now have 18ft lengths of ply to manhandle about....

Slow day, fairing started  you will probably be painting by the end of the week
Clamp two lengths of timber to the plywood top and bottom to stop the butt joint from bending till your ready to use it.
Hurry up with the photos we like to see how the boat comes together just as much as seeing it together :D

Fairing almost finished.

Any advice on making paper templates for the planking would be appreciated.

Time.

I just clamped the plywood to the sides and marked it out leaving a bit extra for the crossover towards the bow.
