Jeffh, i used "Cotton Duck 10oz Pearl Gray" marine grade canvas. THis is the same stuff that was used by lot of boat manuafacturers in the 50's and 60's and its the same stuff my grandfather always used. It seems to hold up very well, but you are limited on the color with this fabric. (i think it only comes in Pearl Gray and Off white). The main reason i chose this is because i have seen it used on all of my grandfathers boats and it works great.

I have used sunbrella on other boats I have owned and it works good too (plus..you can choose from just about any color in the world). I think sunbrella is a little more expensive.

For the glass installation we pretty much just took a router and routed an edge around the inside of the frames (the windshield frames were about 1 inch thick and we routed in about 1/4 inch).

Next, we routed out a small groove around the inside edge where we could insert the window gasket.

Then you can get the glass custom cut so that it sets in on the routed edge. this picture shows the routed edge that the glass sets in on. If you look inside the routed edge you can see the groove that the retaining glass stripping goes in to.

thanks for all of the compliments. I definitly could NOT have done this build without the forum!

as to whats next? i have about 3 different ideas rolling around. I bought plans for the 11 Foot Utility a few months back, i may get started on that because i want a small boat for my kids to use as they get bigger. I would really like to build a small center console to take to Florida for fishing so I will soon be buying the plans for the 15' 9" Foot Console Skiff. I think it would be fun to give Stitch and Glue construction a try.

I will get started on one of those two boats very soon once i make a decision.
