Ok having a MAJOR problem with 350 Chevy intake manifolds. The new consensus is that the big manufacturers cut the carburetor mounting flange at an angle that is not parallel with the intake or heads. I need to use a carb tilt shim to accommodate the angle that the engine is installed and allows the carb (Holley 4150) to be level.

With the tilt shim installed on the manifold the carb attachmnet bolts are splayed inward, and I have lost a couple of degrees of shim because of the angularity of the carb flange on the intake manifold.

This is more of a warning to someone trying to use a "new" dual plane manifold on a motor set at an angle.

There is not enough material to flycut the manifold carb flange and use inserts for the posts, before getting into one of the intake runners.

Intakes tried Brodix HP-1 and Edelbrock RPM "air gap"

Transom mock-up, cavitation plates and turnbuckles. Probably more precision hole locations than on the whole boat. 8)

Is a V8 recommended for a Crackerjack? seems a whole lot of engine for a small boat, it would definitely pull a sailor of your sister.

Transom mock up almost complete. I just need transfer punches to arrive so I can drill the holes for the outboard rudder bracket. I'm liking it, 3 1/2" dual exhaust.

Couple helpful pics and yes it's Tom D'Eaths boat this was at a show in Algonac Michigan. The last pic shows beefed up stringers for all that power. You might want to consider the same if you're running a V8.

Travis 8) 8)

If you're not first you're last !!!!!!!!!!!!
