Glenda, Abby, Daisy and I are in Gulf Shores, with the tug boat loaded with a week's worth of food and a full tank of gas! :D

Tomorrow (Sunday) we will put in at the boat ramp under the Hwy 59 bridge on the ICW, and Glenda and Abby will enjoy breakfast at "TackyJack's" while I drive the trailer back to the house and wash the salt off of it. Then we'll head out into Mobile Bay as soon as the fog lifts, and turn North to the upper end of the Bay. We'll anchor out and spend Sunday night just North of the Bay Causeway.

Then from Monday to Wed or Thur, we'll take Abby on a tour of the Delta rivers, creeks and swamps. We'll stop at the old Bottle Creek Indian mounds, and hope to see and alligator or two. There is reportedly a pair of nesting bald eagles on our route, as well as all the other birds typical of the area.

At the end of the week, we will head back down the Bay, and depending on the weather, we may take a side trip West of the Bay to Bayou La Batre and/or visit the newly rebuilt Sand Island and historic lighthouse.

I probably won't have any internet access until Thursday or Friday :x , but I update the Knot-So-Fast blog as soon as I do.

Tom

They just put out concrete fish habitat north of bouy 118. They look to be 6 foot high. So, there may be only 1 or 2 feet of water.
You'll probably turn out of the ditch before that. Just to let you know.

Tom,
As always, I am looking forward to your forum posts and blogs. Will Abby do any blogging again? I hope she does. I think I recall reading some by her...

Have a blast!

Thanks for the tip, Bill. We'll watch for it. Hopefully the fog will lift early.

If the winds die down tomorrow we'll try to get to fly creek marina in fairhope. Should be able to post to the blog from there.

As always, it is wonderful to see you and the family building memories. Anxious to see the updates. And you know we are all there in spirit.

We made it thru the night. The storms and rain haven't arrived yet, although the wind was bad at times. We pulled anchor at daylight and tied up at the 5 Rivers facility again. Looks like we'll have rain all day and the wind is too high to get across the Bay today. Its been a great trip. Too much to type on my phone :). Got some great eagle, hawk and osprey photos. I'll post to the blog as soon as I can find an internet connection. Abby says she can't wait for the next Gathering.

We got back to Montevallo last night about 9:30 pm. Sorry for the delay in posting to the blogsite, but we never had an internet connection. The weather changed a lot of our plans and gave us a scary experience on the Mobile Bay on Friday. I wouldn't want to go through that again, but it gave me a real appreciation for the skill that went into designing the Bo-Jest, insuring her to be a safe boat in some really rough (storm) conditions!!

Other than the Friday crossing, the trip was fantastic, and I have lots of pictures to post. I will do my best to get the first couple of days posted to the blog tonight after our Church group meeting is over. Here's a shot of an eagle we saw on our second day, near Blakely State Park on the Tensaw River:

I have entries for the first 3 days of our trip posted to the blog, although I don't have all the pictures from day 3 entered yet.

I'm sorry to be taking so long to get the posts done, but we got home late Saturday night and had church obligations Sunday morning and Sunday night, then on Monday morning Glenda's Dad was rushed to the E.R.

Unfortunately, he passed away Tuesday afternoon, and we have been dealing with funeral arrangements and family stuff ever since.

As soon as I have time, I will finish day 3 and the posts for days 4,5,&6. Thanks to everyone for your patience and your thoughts and prayers for Glenda and her family.
Tom

Sounds like you have more important things to handle with your family. The pictures will wait.

Our prayers are with Glenda and the family
