have a velvet drive 72 c 10-18-014 plugin shaft is it possible to convert to flanged output shaft so as to bolt casale v drive to it or is there a plug in shaft adaptor?

I haven't found much on the I/O plugin ... I'd call Casale Engineering and see if they have an adapter or coupler. A solid driveline could be an option.

The easiest path would be to save the I/O tranny for another project and find a regular flanged output shaft version (1018-000-002).

If you're having the tranny rebuilt by a Velvet Drive repair shop, they could set you up with the correct output shaft when they do the rebuild.

If you want to do it yourself, here's a Service Manual. See Page 29, Pinion Cage and Output Shaft Assembly, Index # 85A.

Either a Velvet Drive Power Takeoff 90-795 or 90-798 will be required to mate to the torque tube.

It's an option, but you'll be getting into reduction gearing (1:21, 1:51, 1:98 and 2:49:1), a steeper shaft angle (15 degrees) and they're very expensive unless you can find a good used unit :

Check out the Installation Drawings for the ZF 63 IV and the Velvet Drive Liberty Series 5000 V on our Transmission Page . V8 installations are depicted, but you should get an idea of how much clearance is required. If you're planning a midship engine location, the overall height may be an issue if you have to tilt the engine to flatten the shaft angle.

Do you have any local marine transmission rebuilders in your area ? They might even swap you the plugin version for a regular 72C.

spoke to my local dealer (400 miles away)and he said he might have enough parts to convert it from others lying about the shop at what price is a question.But i might take him upon the offer. Can get a shaft made up to convert but the extra 6 inches is still an issue

Are you making any progress on the bellhousing ? Here's a link to a shop which develops and manufactures a wide range of conversion kits and adaptor plates for classic cars. They may be able to adapt to a Velvet Drive pattern :

Conversion Components (Hamilton, New Zealand) Click on [Select a Product], Select [Jaguar] and hit the [Go] button.

Another option is to use a marine-duty Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Paul Miller and Art (lakeracer69) can chime in with some details if you choose to go that route.

have got a ford bell housing to suit trans with a bit of drilling ,welding and machining I can adapt it to suit.

Have sorted tranny out by shortening extension housing and cutting spline on input shaft of toploader
Have made alloy bed log/engine mount .
Engine sits at 2 deg to stringers 10 deg shaft angle
shaft exits at frame 3
c of g is 3' aft of frame 3

By the way have also finished frames just a bit of fairing to do before skinning hull.
Have not posted for a while or sent pics as I have been to busy building or sitting on esky /cooler, quenching thirst and thinking about build

Thats some monster of an engine love the workshop too very rustic and calling out for a boat to be built in it.Keep up the good work.

some motor you have there had to look twice when I started to count cabs until i realized it is a jag engine. talk about power.

engine is not that powerfull similar to 350 chev but nicer torque curve 300 ft/lb @1000 rpm ,
peaks at 500 ft/lb @4000 rpm and holds 500 ft/lb to 6500 rpm
smoother running , better sound , imho

Power comes in many forms high torque was desired in the old street racers now they go for high rpm. are the carbs webers
I know adding them to any engine increase hp
