Running out is not so bad. What I did is just plain brain dead. I ordered a 1 quart of resin and a pint of hardener...or so I thought. What I actually ordered was 1 qt of resin and 1 pint of hardener. Okay, just order a pint of hardener...but I did it again. Now, I have 1 qt bottle and 2 1-pint bottles of resin and still no hardener. :?

So you will get your pics of the hull on Monday. I have to have this done by Thursday next week when I head to Maryland to bring home "Renewed Spirit" or is it "Spirit Renewed". Dang it, the Admiral cannot make up her mind. And that will add another 2500 miles to my every trusty FORD pickup which is now pushing 250K on the OD and hasn't complained one iota. (And noooooo- my FORD was not built in a Chevy plant). Gertrude hears some of ya'll snickering.[/quote]

WEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL - I was delayed a couple of days cuz I was asked to speak at my pastor's 50th birthday. So we headed out yesterday for a long road trip to retrieve "Renewed Spirit". Somewhere in Illinois my alternator decides it wants to give out. So I am stuck in a hotel on the side of the road until parts store opens on Monday so I can get a new alternator. I reckon after all these miles that losing an alternator is not an unexpected thing but why do they always happen at the most inconvenient times.

When is it ever convenient???

I had a ford that puked a starter every 9 months( the one year warranty was honored for 4 years!!!) in front of our post office mostly!!!

At least on that car, it was easy to change, didn't even have to jack it up cause it was high enough.

Oh and have a very safe trip Dave :D

My fan clutch was starting to wobble a little so I replaced it last week. Since the belt drives both the fan and alternator, I believe this is somehow interrelated. But have a quarter million miles what do you expect.

Dave,
I don't think that CLC have a BOM posted for the SUP. I'm considering buying the kit, but I'd like to do a quick calculation of what I would save if I sourced everything myself. Based on your experience, can you come up with a quick and dirty estimate for materials? I'm going to buy their precut frames regardless.

Yes, it is in my backside. I ran out of epoxy to finish the glue up. Dummy me did not order it before I left to retrieve "Renewed Spirit". So the SUP sits in 2 pcs on the shop bench in much the same condition as 2 weeks ago. The deck is ready to seal down to the hull. Interesting, the designers recommended fiberglassing the underside of the deck. That is where I used up all my epoxy.

So the epoxy has been ordered and hopefully, I will be applying finish coats in a week.

Then the other "project" takes center stage for a year. My, I am getting like you. I have 5 boats (watercraft) now and growing.

Well, FINALLY. Back to work. Being gone a week to retrieve "Renewed Spirit", running out of epoxy, and sick the last 2 weeks I have not had a chance to do much on "Mini Me"

But finally got the deck glued down, faired out and stained. The goal is to glass this weekend but I have 3 nights of CPES to accomplish first. Looking for some black hull paint suitable for submersion. Any recommendations?

See, I have one of those new fangled uniflex steering/motor/control thingamajobs. You stand on the board (don't, and I MEAN don't look down) and the flex yourself as you use the thingamajobs to get around.

Some people call them long oars. They are instruments of torture both physical and mental.

But I won't tell anyone about the trolling motor I have underneath. Even old buzzards can have tricks up their sleeves

After life disruptions back to the task at hand. Bottom is primed and ready to start final paint. I have to install the fins first which will be done tomorrow.

The top is ready for pin striping and varnish. Almost there

Dave, she is looking really good. We rented one over Memorial Day. My wife and daughters...especially my wife really want one. So, I'm still considering a Kaholo build or just buying a 11-12ft plastic one. I've even read really good things about the new inflatable SUPs. A couple inflatable SUPs would be an attractive solution for us just for storage.

BTW, Dave, were you able to find 3mm ply for this build? That is the one thing that I've not seen readily available.
