Doing the final assembly on my ZIP, perhaps launch for sea trials this coming monday.

Here's what I have.
Cartridge type fuel filter/water seperator mounted to transom underneath motor/splash well. Inlet and outlet at top of housing.

Cruiser tank sitting forward of frame 4 (have options of mounting forward of frame 2 or below motor/splash well) with 10' x 3/8" fuel line running below deck slats aft to inlet on fuel seperator/water filter.

Fuel liine with 'squeeze bulb' running from outlet at top of fuel filter/water seperator to engine.

I have 'prefilled' the fuel filter/water seperator with mixed gas.

Perhaps I'm overthinking this one, but what's to stop the engine from 'drawing' out the fuel preloaded into the fuel filter/water seperator and then the engine starving for fuel before being able to 'draw' fuel all the way from forward tank? Or is as simple as having the outlet/inlet at the top of the fuel filter/water seperator that will assure all the lines are full after bulb priming?

Don't want to have an embarassing 'oops' - not getting fuel - on maiden voyage. Thanks.

I would just dump the fuel that's in the filter back into the tank, and pump the bulb till it's hard (fuel is to the carb then).

That way the lines are full.

I think you are over thinking it though and probably doesn't matter

Thanks for the reply. For once in my life I actually read the manual and it called for prefilling the cartridge for the initial start up. Your idea of filliing from the tank back makes totally logical sense. DUH! Just getting so nervous at the thought of getting this boat in the water after one month short of two years in the build.

We're all nerves the first time on every boat! You will have a grin ear to ear for a week! I promise!

I just connected the lines dry, pumped the bulb, started the motor on muffs in the driveway before heading to the ramp. Ran great on the muffs for 10 minutes and headed to the ramp. You might run the boat firmly on the trailer with motor in the water at the ramp for a few mintues then shutdown unhook the straps and cast off once you know its running well. Its a good way to check your idle in forward and reverse with the resistance of the water before you head out.
