Ohhh, you have only begun making sawdust. I reckon half of the wood I bought ended up on the floor

Yep Dave, I already have a nice supply of mahogany wood flour and I have doubts my shop vac is going to survive this build

So, here I am, tax season is over, a nice dinner out on Friday night with my wife and the kids, to bed early and looking forward to a late sleep in......when I hear rain on the roof at 5AM....and I have 30 sheets of 4mm Meranti Hydro-Tek and 3 sheets of 6mm (by son is building a canoe) in a crate sticking out of the back of my Tahoe :o IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO RAIN UNTIL LATE TONIGHT  Up out of bed running, I know where the roll of plastic is in the garage. Luckily, it was only a sprinkle, no damage. The hard rain didn't start until I got it all covered up. OH well, so much for sleeping in  Looks like there is a change of plans today, going to head up and pick up some more long pieces of mahogany for the remaining battens and also some ash for my son's canoe and work on the boat......as I sit here listening to the $#%^*^&( RAIN!! OH, well could be worse, I could still be doing taxes instead of working on the boat :D

Got a couple of pics to post here. I've got my bottom battens cut and only need to scarf a couple of joints together before I permanently attach them. Starting to take some serious shape here now.

The big news is this though......seems I have created a monster. My youngest son started this stitch and glue canoe 9 days ago. He applied his first line of epoxy last night as I formed fillets with my finger. I just took this picture this morning. The cotton flox/epoxy has set up nicely, should make for a nice bed to apply the next application of epoxy/micro before he stitches the vertical side panels. fun to watch him build :D

As you can see off to the side of his project is my stack of 4mm ply just waiting for fairing to start and finish!!

It may not look much different than the pic a couple of posts back but this is after a good weekend of work. I switched to furniture making mode over the weekend. I ran all my battens through the planer to get all the rip blade marks off then ran the tops through the router to put a small radius on the boat inboard side. I figure when I flip the boat and start crawling around inside, those radius edges are not going to gouge me as much as a sharp edge, plus it just looks better. Anyway, after that, I glued my first set of battens in and have a couple of long pieces drying after gluing up the scarf joints. More batten this week then onto fairing....starting to look a little more beefy!!
