Hi everybody!
I discovered the glen-l website about a month ago. Didn't ever think about building a boat myself till then :D The designs are amazing, and all of your DIY work is just stunning!

I was thinking about starting with a smiple build of SnG Dyno Mite, then saw the beautiful and famous Zip, now I'm thinking of building the Flats Flyer, which I think is a perfect boat for me. I do occaisonal fishing, and i just love spending time on the water, driving fast, slow or doing nothing :D

My question to You is: do you think this is a bit large project for a first time bulder like me? I have all the tools, and have some experience in carpentry. Should I stick to Dyno Mite to get some practice?

Sorry for the long introduction :)

Best regards,
Melkior

Welcome to the forum, build what ever suits your needs and what looks good to you, as you have some experience with wood any boat is possible if you have the time and the effort " and the money :D " There is always someone here to help if you have any questions.
Best of luck with whatever you pick,

Thanks! I dont actually have the money :D but I'll just shop what I need as I need it... I already did the calculations and the estimated cost will be 3000$ just to get the hull done. That's with using the best wood I can get here, so I think I'll manage to save some $ with cheaper wood & ply for the interior. :)

Do you know if Glen-L provides a 3d model when you purchase their plans? I would like to have it just to try diferent coloring for the boat. :D

Also, can the Flats Flyer be used in deeper, rougher waters? Not just the lakes..

Cheers!

you don't get a 3d model with your plans just prints material guide instruction sheets and full size patterns
