Well, per Rule #1, this is not a launch since the Admiral was not present to witness. However, all the other rules do apply. It was an exciting day and everything went well. The boat handled well and seem to plane smoothly without any porpoising. I was definitely grinning.

I will also post this in the launching ramp.

I always try to post a picture as well.

Looks and sounds like a sweet riding boat you built yourself there Bob! Great Job! Tell us what the Admiral thinks with the official launch.

Thanks all. It was sure a nerve wracking but also fun time. I don't recall grinning, but it is definitely there. The official launch will be when the upholstery is done and the interior is finished.

Dave: Once I get it to the Lake of the Ozarks, it isn't too long a trip to Table Rock. I'd look forward to some alternate scenery. Also, how long did your registration process take? Missouri DOR has had my paperwork for over a month and they can't even tell me when it will be done.

Bob,
Good idea using the snaps through the rub railing. Are you able to tow with that cover on the boat?

Bob- Once I took the boat to the Water Patrol and had them sign off of the application as a home built, I simply submitted the HIN application to the state. I was told by the WP that I should keep a copy of the paperwork with me until the registration docs and HIN plate came back. I am glad I did for I was stopped on the lake one day. I think it took 6 weeks for the DOR to send me the HIN plates and registration.

Jeff. The upholsterer said I should be able to tow it with just the snaps snapped. However, I haven't tried it yet.

Dave. I'm coming up on 6 weeks since submission. However, my check hasn't cleared and calls to the DOR are a waste of time. They don't record when it is received. I have no idea if they have it or if it got lost in the mail. They also said that the HIN plates get mailed to the Water Patrol and they have to install the plates. So, I have to wait for their call and then take my boat to wherever they mail the plates. What a pain.

Thanks Bob. It sure looks like a nice fit. I have a generic cover that I don't dare use for towing. I'm either going to get a custom snap on full boat cover like yours or cockpit covers for towing.

Hallelujah! There is progress on several fronts.

1. Finally, after 6 weeks since mailing in my paperwork, the state of Missouri cashed my check. At least they opened the envelope and are hopefully processing my title, registration, HIN assignment, etc.

2. I bought a used boat lift for my slip and it should be installed next week. Used lifts are in high demand at the Lake of the Ozarks and I was getting worried I wouldn't get one in time. I bought it sight unseen, but from a company and not an individual. It is warrantied to work and hold air. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

3. The upholstery is done and I just picked it up. Pictures to follow when I get a chance to install them.

Warren: The fabric I used for my boat cover is called Aqualon, which is a vinyl coated polyester duck material.

Bad news: The state of Missouri sent me a letter rejecting my application. Seems I owe more money than I sent in and I also need to fill out a "self certification" form. I had a local license bureau calculate the fees and they got it wrong and no one seems to know what the new form is about, including the person I called at the DOR. What a pain.

On a brighter note, the upholstery is done and looks nice. It is a tight fit. I should have take vupilot's advice and given the panels another 1/4" of clearance. I may have to rethink my attachment of the seat backs as the panels do not move freely enough.

The upholsterer used very firm 2" foam on the seat and back and 3" for the bump at the front of the seats.

Here's how they look just put in place.

Thats a great looking interior! Looks very comfy.

Yup, I thought I had enough clearance too but I guess it always takes more than you think.
