I got so old I can't go fishing in the boat by myself!

Last time I went, I suffered a blood clot that changed my life forever.
That was a Year ago, and now I think I'd like to try it again.
But now, my wife wont let me go fishing by myself.

What a lousy back of the Junkyard place to be sunk into!

We need a "Buddy" thread!

Thud...sorry to hear that. I love fishing and know how it feels when you want to go but just can't.

Strange as it is, Weiss lake was our first stop in AL looking for a home on the lake.
Cullman was second.

Too hot during the day for me too. I put in about Dark and fish till first light.
I have a small boat, 12' that I row. Is what you have better?

I am boatless. Sold the flying saucer! Weiss has some good fishing, but I dont eat fish from the lake. There was been alot of problems with people running their septic tank over flow into the lake. This has created some ecoli hot spots. Then with years of GE ground pollution that has found its way into the Coosa River which also feeds the lake.

Are you sure the fish are bad?
"How can a Brown Cow, eat Green Grass and give White milk?"

We eat Crabs, Oysters etc that feed on the waste, but we don't get anything from eating them.
Red Tide is not Human Pollution.

I'd never eaten Cat Fish or Crappie before I met my Wife.
I'd take home a boatload of both if I could.

I've come to the conclusion that you cant worry about everything. I go fishing in a homemade boat, 20 miles offshore, often by myself. Yeah, I should take another with me. But, if you have a bad catastrophe, is that other person really gonna be able to help??
You really dont know for sure. therefore why spend a lot of time worrying.
Sometimes I think that having another soul onboard in case of emergency doesnt necessarily mean you can get back to shore in time to save your life; it only means you can have a group hug before you croak.
All of us are born condemned to death, and I quite worrying exactly how it happens.

And right now, as I sit, I can attest that I'd rather be 20 miles offshore by myself than wrenching airplanes for a job.

LOL, I tried taking her with me. Boat's too small, she's cramped too long, need to have some place secluded to take a pee, and is frightend of the water in a tippy boat and wont wear a PFD because.... whatever. The list kept on going.

I'm getting better, the weather is coming along nicely. Warm at night with light winds.

I've been the 'other guy' on fishing trips and taken plenty of 'other guy's along as well.
I think Fishing is necessary for mind control. It keeps you from going off the Deep end.
One time, me and another guy....(we could have a whole new thread on those exciting trips)

Can you go fishing from the bank? How many areas are accessible from the shore/bank?
Can you use limb lines there? Make yourself a treasure map of bank lines, or limblines. Use your time to go check them all.
Try to set a trotline from one bank to other, you can stay in eyesight of her.
I am just rambling here, trying to think of ways to get hooks in the water.

I just not in the mood to eat a fish that has been eating e-coli and stuff dumped by GE. I know I probably have when there were not the standards there are today. Besides I would rather do woodworking or something else!
