Hello one and all. I am newbie to this site and to boat building. I have been doing woodworking for about 25 years and this my first attempt at boat buildling.

I have yet to buy plans though I am looking at the "Wildcat EXT Cuddy Plywood Plans." I currently own a cnc router which I can do 4' x 6' projects on and I was wondering if any of the construction would benefit from my cnc. If so, can the plans be delivered in a pdf format so that the necessary parts to be cut can be run through a cam process? Have any of you used a cnc router on the building process?

Any ideas?

Rick in MI used a CNC router to make a beautifully detailed windshield and cutout names in the king plank of his excellent boat.

How cool would that be if you could cutout an entire "kit" with your CNC router?!?!

Thomas - I do know of builders in Europe that have converted the plans to digital and cut their frames out using a CNC. The plans are true blueprints and I do not believe they come in any format that would let you simply program. I have heard that those with CNC capability find it is faster to simply trace and cut rather than set up the CNC unless you plan on building several of them.

Let us all know. We are all interested in this technique.
