So I am finally to the point of epoxying and screwing the side plywood onto the frame of my Squirt. When I began to mark the spots for the nails, I stopped and checked to see if they would go through the plywood and the chine, and sure enough they seem a bit too long. The plans call for #12 1" nails, I have the barbed ones, but they extend past the plywood and through the chine. This is not a problem on the sheer though because the sheer is double laminated and has plenty of width. Here's a picture.

So my question is, should I try and find 3/4" nails to use then? It doesn't seem right to have the end exposed, especially since I plan on leaving the inside natural.
